Finding Thalhimers 
I started out at Thalhimers one year for Christmas in the toy department in the downtown store. I learned so much about the beautiful toys, dolls and games while there and had such a great time doing it.
I then went to work in the Food Market as the wine person, assistant manager, then became manager. I met some of the most unique, interesting people and always felt like I was part of a big family.
The Thalhimer family were always the nicest people and I surely do miss the downtown store. When I think of Thalhimers, I only think of the “flagship”. It was and will always be my favorite department store.
With the generosity of Mr. Thalhimer, I was given the opportunity to travel to California to learn as much as I could about the West Coast wines that were just coming into their own. My experiences at many well known vineyards enabled me to introduce and educate the Thalhimers customers about the new boom in the wine industry. Those in-store wine tastings were quite interesting. It is a time in my life I will never forget. It is also what led me to my current career as a chef.
I’m so excited about the reunion and can’t wait!

There are no other department stores to compare to Thalhimers. I may be a little biased because I worked in the mother store downtown, but it was a classic that is missed very much.
